Air Whanganui is a business with over 35-years of history in aviation, delivering fully accredited aeromedical services throughout New Zealand.

We are flying muliple missions daily throughout the country with over 1500 patients transferred nationally on an annual basis. Air Whanganui operates a 24/7 service for Te Whatu Ora across multiple regions and has an exemplary national reputation in air ambulance,  supported by a large highly skilled medical team based in Whanganui and employed by Te Whatu Ora.

All of our aircraft and patient transfer vehicles are equipped with state-of-the art medical equipment and technology. The team at Air Whanganui is proud to be able to achieve great outcomes on a daily basis for people in need. We also work in collaboration with NZ Flying Doctors, Life Flight Trust, Philips Search and Rescue Trust and the Te Whatu Ora medical and flight operations teams.

We may not be the biggest, but its our “Care in the Air” approach that makes us the best.

Flight Nurses

Air Whanganui’s medical  service is supported by Whanganui’s Te Whatu Ora flight nurse team, with the largest air ambulance flight team in regional New Zealand. These highly skilled nurses are available 24/7, and have extensive experience operating throughout New Zealand.

Patient Transfer Vehicles

We have two road transfer vehicles operating within the Whanganui region, delivering bed-to-bed patient transfer services to Te Whatu Ora and rest homes, transferring patients to and from Palmerston North for specialist care, and transferring patients to and from the Whanganui Hospital to the local airport.
